These days.....

These days you will find a lot of my posts and photographs reflecting my journey through grief. Of course there may be some other stuff along the way. Guess we will just have to wait and see where this journey takes us.

Phenomenal Woman

Over the next little while I am going to be thinking and posting about my Momma and share with you why she was such a phenomenal woman. I imagine some of you will learn things about her that you never knew. For others, it will remind you of why you too thought she was phenomenal. Blessings to you all on your journeys.

I took this video and these pictures when I was flying back to Milledgeville from Fort Lauderdale Wednesday morning. It is a beautiful morning sky. The blue sky and the clouds are amazing. I love the reflection of the sun on the water and the little blankets of clouds.

High water on the Oconee River

These are photos of the Oconee River just below the damn. I took them Saturday morning (April 4) - there was only one floodgate opened but still you can see the power of the water. Note the brave bird in the picture below. These first three photos have been submitted for the Oconee Artists Exhibition at Allied Arts here in Milledgeville.

I'm not sure I want to follow that arrow to the river!

Inspirations, Exclamations and Epiphanies

Wings of Love

My goal for my photography from the very beginning was so that when people saw the pictures they could literally see, feel and experience the moment that picture was taken. I hope that when someone sees a sunrise or sunset they can feel the peace and solitude of that moment - that they can smell the salty air and hear the waves and the water. I want my photos to touch people in some way - even if it is simply that they look and wonder what I was thinking when I took that picture. I love taking the photographs and seeing the outcome. And I love it when people "get it" when they are looking at my photos.

We Remember
I think this photo is one of my most visceral. Though the reflection is my parents they can easily be the parents of anyone. We are all touched by the pain of war and I think this photo really catches that deep feeling of emotion.

Reflections on Okeefe #3

In April of 2007 I was driving by the Governor's Mansion here in Milledgeville and I saw these beautiful iris. I was compelled to stop and try to savor and save the beauty of these flowers.

More....Inspirations, excalmations and epiphanies

The Sentinel
I was so intrigued when I found this outhouse in the middle of this graveyard. And there was that little statue watching the outhouse...what I did not see until much later was "The Sentinel" standing watch over the stones and the souls.
